Albert C. Robertson S/40489 Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders
YOUNG DUNDEE SOLDIER KILLED.
Pte. Albert C. Robertson, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who fell in action on 23rd April, the same date on which his cousin, a Guardbridge lad in the Black Watch, was killed. Pte. Robertson was a son of Mr Thomas Robertson, baker, 12 Peddie Street, Dundee, who now resides in King Street, Stanley. Although only 19 years of age, he had been at the front for a considerable time, and prior to enlistment was a grocer in the employment of Mr George Cramond, Forest Park Road, Dundee.
In a sympathetic letter to Pte. Robertson’s parents his company officer states that he was keen on his work, and had he been spared he would very soon have become a principal gunner in the Lewis gun section. The letter concludes with this sentence :__”He now marches in that great deathless army under the command of our great Captain, to whom alone one can look at a time like this.”
