More about Alexander Dunbar Crighton
Alexander D Crighton was the son of Mr Robert and Mrs Margaret Crighton of 4 Gellatly Street, Dundee and the husband of Mrs Margaret Crighton (nee Harris). In 1915 he served onboard the SS West Point, the SS Alaunia and the SS Polruan. The SS Chic, registered in London, was sunk on 13 April 1916 by torpedo fired by the German submarine U-22 approximately 45 miles South West of the Fastnet Lighthouse. She was en route from Halifax to Manchester with a cargo of wood pulp. Nine crew men were lost and all, together with Alexander Crighton, are commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial in London.
