More about Alexander Easson Sharp

Sandy Sharp drove one of the first tanks (Delphine D21 “female”) in the attack at High Wood in the Somme in September 1916. This tank was damaged. He was wounded at some point and I am not sure what the rest of his war experience was since his war records are not available. He was discharged 9th February 1919.  Sandy returned to Dundee after the War and then joined the Indian Service of Engineers becoming an Executive Engineer living in Mumbai. He married Betsy Donald in Dundee in 1921. They had 3 children, Pat, Sandy and Gillian. The family returned to Dundee in the 1950s. Sandy died in 1967 and is buried in Balgay Cemetery.

Information and images very kindly supplied by Alexanders great niece Patricia Lovett.
