More about Alexander Nairn

Alexander Nairn   Royal Garrison Artillery

WHEN GERMANS SHELL DRESSING STATION.

Gunner Alexander Nairn, R.G.A., Colliston Inn, has been seriously wounded.  On Sunday, 19th inst., he was wounded in the right leg above the knee.  He managed to crawl along until assistance arrived, and he was taken to a dressing station.  He had not been long in the station when a shell hit the building, smashing it to pieces, burying Gunner Nairn and others in the debris.  With difficulty he was dug out of his perilous position,  and it was seen he was further severely injured in the chest and face.  He has now been removed to a hospital at Newport, Mon.

Gunner Nairn, whose wife resides at Colliston, enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war.  Previous to coming to Colliston district, about twelve years ago, he was a member of the Dundee constabulary, and was well known in the city.
