More about Alexander Sutherland

Alexander Sutherland   Highland Light Infantry

Intimation has been received that Alexander Sutherland, H.L.I., has been admitted to hospital suffering from a severe gunshot wound in the left thigh.  He enlisted in the Black Watch early in 1915, and was transferred to the H.L.I.  He has seen some severe fighting.  Prior to his enlistment he was employed by Mackay & Robbie, contractors.  An older brother is serving with the Black Watch.  Private Sutherland’s widowed mother resides at 12 Gellatly Street, Dundee.  He is a brother-in-law of Sergeant Glassie, who is well-known in recruiting circles.
