More about Andrew Smith

Andrew Smith

PATRIOTIC YOUNG DUNDEE MAN

TRAVELS 6000 MILES TO ENLIST.

Mr Andrew Smith, a young Dundee man, has travelled 6000 miles in order to join the colours.

He is the younger son of Mr Andrew Smith, lately residing at Barnhill, Broughty Ferry.  He has just arrived in this country from Morochocha, Peru, where he was engaged for two years in connection with the copper mining industry.  Mr Smith travelled via the Panama Canal, and arrived in England by the steamer Camtio from Colon.  The journey occupied a month.

Mr Smith is 23 years of age, and was formerly employed with the firm of Urquhart, Lindsay, & Co., Limited, Blackness Foundry, Dundee.  His father is with the Mechanical Transport Section in France.
