More about Andrew Watson
For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour.
Formally served with the Highland Light Infantry, Reg No 29923.
According to C.W.G.C. there were 2 other soldiers from Andrew’s battalion lost in the same incident, they were Pte James Thomson, 45214, 1st Garrison Battalion Royal Scots and Pte Thomas Thomson, 29078, 1st Garrison Battalion, Royal Scots. It is believed that for reasons unknown the 3 soldiers were travelling aboard the S.S. Kossier when they lost their lives.
On July 20th, 1918, Kosseir, on a voyage from Alexandria to Port Said with general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine UB-51 (Ernst Krafft), 40 miles NExN1/2N Alexandria. 39 persons were lost. Read more at wrecksite: https://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?136368
