More about David Mann

Dr David Mann  MB ChB FRCS(Ed)   Captain Royal Army Medical Corps

David Mann was the Eldest Brother of Alexander James Mann,  (War Poet)  David resided with his family at 11 Castle Terrace Broughty Ferry.  His father was a Tea Planter with business interests in India and David was born in Tezpur, Bengal, India on 6 September 1883

He was educated at the Collegiate School in Broughty Ferry and later studied Medicine at Edinburgh University where he graduated MB ChB in 1906 and achieved the higher surgical qualification on Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh,  (FRCS(Ed)),  in 1908 after which he was known to be in practice from Spring Lodge, Broughty Ferry.

On the outbreak of war he was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps  where he is know to have served in Bologne presumably at a hospital or Casualty Clearing Station where with his surgical qualification he could be most useful.

Following the Great War he returned to Dundee practising again from Spring Lodge and later from 114 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry.
