More about Bertram Edward Leslie

  1. B. Leslie   Royal Field Artillery

FRENCH HONOUR FOR DUNDEE SERGEANT.

Sergt. E. B. Leslie, R.F.A., whose wife resides at 61 Arbroath Road Dundee, has been awarded the Croix de Guerre for bravery and devotion in accomplishing his duty.  As chief of a convoy of six carriages which carried munitions to positions of batteries from the 31st May to 1st June, 1918, along roads which were strongly bombarded, Sergt. Leslie, knowing the urgency of the need of munitions, got in front, and by his determination and example succeeded in supplying the guns.

Sergt. Leslie, who has been twice wounded was formerly mentioned in despatches.  Prior to joining up in August, 1914, he was employed as a horseshoer with Mr W. M. Ferguson, veterinary surgeon, Soapwork Lane.
