Death of Dundee Minister’s Son.

Ebenezer Fenton, M.A., divinity student, has died of acute pneumonia in Hounslow Military Hospital, London.  He was 22 years of age, and was the younger son of the Rev. James Fenton, Kilburns, by Wormit, Fife, senior minister of Baxter Park United Free Church, Dundee.

Dundee Evening Telegraph 20th March 1916

MILITARY FUNERAL IN DUNDEE. ―The remains of Private Ebenezer Fenton, A.S.C, son of the Rev. James Fenton were buried in the Eastern Cemetery, Dundee, yesterday with military honours.  Owing to the fact that the father was at one time minister of Baxter Park U.F. Church, Dundee, and that deceased was a divinity student and well known, a large number of Dundee clergy followed the cortege from Tay Bridge Station to the graveside, while members of the staff of Dundee High School were also present.

The firing party was composed of the 5th Provisional Battalion, and the brass and pipe bands of the battalion were in attendance.  As the procession slowly proceeded through the central thoroughfares it attracted large crowds.  The Rev. Thomas Crichton Gauldry, conducted a service at Tay Bridge Station, while the Rev. A. C. Mackenzie officiated at the graveside.
