More about Faringham

Faringham   Royal Naval Air Service

RUSSIAN HONOUR FOR DUNDEE MAN.

To Chief Petty Officer Faringham, R.N.A.S., a Dundee man, has fallen the honour of gaining the coveted Russian distinction, the St George’s Medal for special service at the front.

C.P.O. Faringham enlisted shortly after the outbreak of war.  He first saw service in Belgium, and afterwards, being an engineer to trade, was transferred to the Armoured Car Squadron.  He was attached to the British Armoured Car Squadron which went to the Russian front under Captain Locker Lampson.

C.P.O. Faringham, whose mother resides at 27 Park Avenue, Dundee, is 22 years of age.  He served his apprenticeship as an engineer with Mr D. J. Macdonald, Dundee, and afterwards started an engineering business in Bervie, where he was at the outbreak of war.  He is a nephew of Deputy Chief Constable Davidson, Dundee, and prior to joining up was secretary of the Dundee Aero Club.
