D.C.M. FOR DUNDEESOLDIER WHO FELL IN ACTION.

In the latest list of Distinguished Conduct Medal awards is the name of Private George Gardiner, a Dundee lad, who was killed on 16th August.

Private Gardiner was in the Scottish Rifles, and had been recommended for the D.C.M. just one month before he met his death.  He was the youngest son of Mrs Gardiner, 33 Hilltown, Dundee.

DUNDEE SOLDIER KILLED IN ACTION.

Pte. Geo. Gardiner, of the Scottish Rifles, who was killed in action on 16th August, was a son of Mrs Gardener, 33 Hilltown, Dundee.  Twenty-three years of age, Pte. Gardiner enlisted in the Royal Scots Fusiliers in April, 1916, and was afterwards transferred to the Scottish Rifles.  He went to France in September, 1916.  Prior to enlistment Pte. Gardiner was employed as an undertenter by Gilroy, Sons & Co., Ltd.  His two brothers are serving.
