George Hall Captain London Regiment
Another Carnoustie officer has been honoured, Captain George Hall, London Scottish, attached to London Regiment having been mentioned in despatches in recognition of brilliant services in France. Captain Hall is the son of Mrs D. Hall Carlogie Terrace, Carnoustie.
Dundee Evening Telegraph 7th January 1918
CARNOUSTIE OFFICER DIES OF WOUNDS.
Captain George Hall, London Regiment, well known in Dundee and Carnoustie, has died of wounds.
Captain Hall served his apprenticeship with Messrs Mackay, Irons, & Co., C.A., Dundee, and passed his final examination in December, 1914, being one of the two candidates in Scotland who were given distinction.
He left the employment of Messrs Mackay, Irons, & Co. in March, 1915, on obtaining an appointment in the War Office. He remained there until 1916, but desirous of doing his part as a soldier he joined the London Regiment as a private. He shortly afterwards received a commission, and crossed to France in the Autumn of 1916. He was mentioned in despatches, and promoted captain on the field in 1917. His mother resides at Carlogie Terrace, Carnoustie.
Captain Hall is the eighth member of the staff of Messrs Mackay, Irons, & Co. killed in the war.
