George was with the Expeditionary Force from 1st  Nov 1914 until 17 May 1915.  He was made a Lance Corporal on 21 Dec 1915 and reduced to Private on 9 Feb 1916 after being caught gambling in the hut at 12.30 in the afternoon.  Discharged 15 Apr 1916 as medically unfit.

George was the brother of Alexander Proudfoot, 158129, Royal Flying Corps
