More about Henry Drummond Alexander Malcolm
Henry formally serves with 2nd Battalion, King Edwards Horse Regiment. He was the brother of Cpt John Evelyn Malcolm, 271st Railway Company, Royal Engineers, who died on active duty 19.02.1919.
I have been able to find some details about HDA Malcolm and unlike his brother; it does not look like he had any connection with Canada. He originally served with the 2nd Battalion King Edward’s Horse. He was then commissioned into the Royal Field Artillery and died on 17/2/1917. Details on the attached photograph suggest that he had been awarded the DCM which he must have won whilst serving in the cavalry regiment. However, he is not wearing the ribbon in the photograph.
Unfortunately, I do not have that medal and also, can find no record of this award. I have contacted the regimental website for any information and they could not help. (Information supplied by Chris Hodges)
