All of Michael’s brothers served during the Great War with only Peter who served with the Royal Navy returning home safely.

L/Cpl James Higgins, 3/2012, 9th Battalion Black Watch, died of wounds 31.07.1917, Pte John Higgins, 3/2893, 2nd Battalion Black Watch, killed in action 25.09.1915 & Pte Stephen Higgins, 200759, 4th Battalion Black Watch, killed in action 30.07.1916.

THIRD OF FOUR DUNDEE BROTHERS FALLS IN ACTION.

Private Michael Higgins, H.L.I., is officially reported to have been killed in action.  He was one of four brothers, who all answered their country’s call.

Of the four one is now left, and is at present on active service.  The deceased soldier was 34 years of age.  He enlisted about fourteen months ago, and had been on active service for about seven months.  He was previously in one of the public works in the city.  He is survived by his wife, who resides at 26 West Henderson’s Wynd, Dundee.
