More about James Carstairs Fraser
For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the Original Dundee Roll of Honour, but is remembered on Dundee’s Morgan Academy Roll of Honour.
Lieutenant Fraser joined the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry shortly after the outbreak of war and subsequently received a commission in the Seaforths. He was at the front for nearly three years, being attached to a trench mortar battery.
James Carstaires Fraser Lieutenant Seaforth Highlanders
Monifieth Officer Falls.
Lieutenant James C. Fraser, Seaforth Highlanders, Briarbank, Monifieth, who was killed in action on 21st March, was twenty-four years of age. He joined the ranks of the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry shortly after the outbreak of war, and subsequently received a commission in the Seaforths. He had been at the front for nearly three years, being attached to a trench mortar battery.
Deceased, who was well known in Monifieth, was prior to enlisting a clerk in the office of Mr Robert Kinnes, shipowner, Dundee.
A sad feature of the sacrifice is the fact that he was to be married when home on leave at the end of this month.
