More about James Dow

James Dow   C2/36   Hood Bn Royal Naval Division

A SLIGHT WOUND.

DUNDEE BANDMASTER MAKING A GOOD RECOVERY.

The many friends in Dundee of C.P.O. James Dow will be gratified to learn that the wounds received by him in the operations at the Dardanelles are not of a serious character.  Official communication of his wounding reached Dundee on Saturday, but no indication of the extent of his injuries was then given.  Last night, however, C.P.O. Dow’s wife, who resides at 9 Balgay Avenue, was in receipt of a letter from her husband, which stated that he was suffering from a shrapnel wound in the forehead (slight).

C.P.O. Dow is an extremely well-known and highly respected city man, and prior to leaving Dundee with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve was a member of the clerical staff of the gas office of the Dundee Corporation.  For many years he has wielded the baton as bandmaster of the Dundee Naval Volunteer Reserve Band, and in addition to these musical activities he officiated as organist in Logie Parish Church.

Now lying at Malta, the popular C.P.O. was attached to the Hood Battalion of the Royal Naval Brigade.  He is making satisfactory progress from his injuries.
