Pte. James Egerton, Gordon Highlanders, is the second brother of a patriotic family to make the supreme sacrifice.  He was about 19 years of age, and had been in France since February Last.  Previous to enlisting he was employed with the Buist Spinning Co.  His widowed mother lives at 45 Cotton Road.  His brother Drummer Andrew Egerton, was killed in May, 1915, while Bandsman William Egerton has been a prisoner of war for four years, and Sergeant Charles Egerton is still serving.
