More about John Deuchars

John Deuchars   879 – 202259   Black Watch

DUNDEE WOMAN’S LOAD OF ANXIETY.

HUSBAND WOUNDED : BROTHERS MISSING.

Mrs John Deuchars, 3 Pennycook Lane, Dundee, is hard hit by the war.  She has received a letter from her husband Sergt. John Deuchars, 5th (Angus and Dundee) Battalion Black Watch, in which he informed her that he had been wounded, and is lying in the Royal Infirmary, Sunderland.

The note contained nothing more than the bare intimation, and consequently Mrs Deuchars is anxious regarding her husband’s real condition.

Sergeant Deuchars has been connected with the 5th for fifteen years.  He was employed as assistant fireman at Ashton Works.  Mrs Deuchars has two brothers in the Camerons, and not a word has been heard from either of them for seven weeks.  One of them, Wm. Smith, 32 Carmichael Street, a member of Dundee Police Force was wounded in one of the early battles of the war.  The other, Adam Smith, lived at 46 Hill Street before opening of hostilities.
