More about John Duncan Petrie

John Petrie M.M.  34    Black Watch

DUNDEE MAN AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL.

Sergeant John Petrie, late of the Black Watch, who resides at 15 Union Place. Dundee, has just been awarded the Military Medal.

The exploit for which Sergeant Petrie gained the decoration dates as far back as Loos, when he displayed great heroism under enemy fire.

Sergeant Petrie was connected with the Volunteer and Territorial movements in Dundee for about 17 years.  He went out to the front early in 1915, and with his regiment took part in several big engagements. Sergeant Petrie was discharged from the army in March of this year, and he is at present employed as a fitter with the Caledonian Railway Company, Dundee.
