More about Knight Keith
Both the original Dundee Roll of Honour and the Peoples Journal 1925 supplement has this man listed as Pte Keith Knight.
Knight Keith S/3209 Black Watch
DUNDEE BLACK WATCH MAN KILLED.
Mr and Mrs George Keith, 2 Small’s Lane, Dundee, have received intimation of the death in action of their son, Pte. Knight Keith, of the Black Watch. Pte. Keith, who was 23 years of age, enlisted in October, 1914, and had been at the front for two and a half years. Before enlistment he was in the employment of Mr Frank Anderson, coal merchant, Annfield Street.
His company officer, in a letter to deceased’s parents states that he was killed instantaneously by a shell which burst beside him. “Your son,” says the officer, “was ever a bright and cheery and good soldier.” His brother, Private George Keith, of the Black Watch, has been three times wounded and once gassed, and is again on active service. He was formerly in the employment of Robert Taylor & Sons, coal merchants. A brother-in-law, Seaman George Baines, is in the Royal Navy.
