More about Philip Brady

Philip was the brother of Pte George Brady, 3/6808, 2nd Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, who was killed in action, 23.03.1916 & Pte Patrick Brady, 6781, 6/7th Battalion Royal Scots, who died from wounds, 09.08.1917.

Philip Brady   Royal Irish Rifles

Private Philip Brady is a member of the 2d Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, and has been at the front for five months.  He is 39 years of age, and resides at 29 Blackness Road.  Previous to joining his present regiment he was a member of the 2d Gordon Highlanders, and was in India for nine years.

DUNDEE SOLDIERS’ BAIRNS.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE COURIER.

Sir,—I am a demobilised soldier.  I have had two brothers killed in action.  I cannot but observe hundreds of soldiers’ children running about the streets of Dundee with hardly a boot on their feet.  A medal for soldiers’ children!  Just picture a little girl walking to school in her bare feet, and perhaps not a gravat round her neck.  The medal that she wears will not keep her very warm.  It is just like every other war—the soldiers’ bairns are very soon forgotten, as well as the brave fellows who laid down their lives to keep Dundee intact. —
