MONIFIETH GROCER REPORTED MISSING.

Belongs to Kirriemuir.

Private Robert Reid, formerly employed as a grocer with Messrs Peebles Brothers, High Street, Monifieth, has been reported by the military authorities missing since 6th April.  He belonged to Kirriemuir, but was well known in Monifieth, having been a long time resident in the burgh.  His friends hope that he may yet turn up.  A most likeable and obliging young fellow, he originally joined the R.A.M.C., but was transferred to a Welsh regiment.

NATIVE OF KIRRIEMUIR FALLS IN ACTION.

Information has been received in Monifieth that Robert Reid, a former employee of Messrs Peebles Bros, grocers, Monifieth, has been killed in action.

Private Reid, was reported missing at the beginning of this month, but is now included in the official list of those who have fallen in action.  He joined the R.A.M.C., but afterwards transferred to a Welsh regiment, with whom he went through the Dardanelles campaign without mishap, and had only been a few weeks on the front where he has made the supreme sacrifice.  Private Reid, who belonged to Kirriemuir, where his people still reside, was well known and highly respected amongst the shopkeepers of the burgh during his residence in Monifieth.
