Robert Wilson   S/19493   Black Watch

Information reached Monifieth this morning that Private Robert Wilson, Black Watch, Brook Street, Monifieth, has died at a base hospital in France from acute bronchitis.  Private Wilson is a son of Mr W. S. Wilson, slater, Monifieth, and joined the colours about eighteen months ago, having been in the firing line for over a year.  He was home on leave in March last, and returned in time for the big German advance on 21st March.  Prior to enlistment he acted as a traction engine assistant with his brother, Mr John Wilson, Union Street, Monifieth, and was very well known throughout the district.  He leaves two orphans, his wife having predeceased him some time ago.
