He is believed to be the brother of Driver George Brown Buchanan, 636637, 124th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, who died 28.09.1918. and Pioneer Charles Buchanan, D/559, South African Pioneers, who died , 08.05.1918 and  Pte David Buchanan, 203638, 7th Battalion, Border Regiment, who died from wounds, 21.09.1918.
