DCM awarded: For Conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his platoon with great skill in an attack. On another occasion, during a raid on the enemy’s trenches, he established a block and held the enemy in check, covering the withdrawal of the party with the greatest coolness and determination.

Lt Watson took the Royal Aero Club Aviator’s Certificate on 15th February 1917 at Sedgeford Military School in a Maurice Farman Biplane.
