More about William Watson

Deaths at Sea gives William Watson’s home address as 8 Grove Street, Dundee. He was reported in Deaths at Sea as missing overboard in November 1916. The Cunard Liner Carmania had been requisitioned as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in 1914 and was severely damaged when she engaged and sank the German Commerce Raider, SMS Cap Trafalgar off the remote South Atlantic island of Trindade in September 1914. After repair she was employed as a Troop Ship, mainly for the transport of Canadian troops from May 1916.
