Charlie was thankful that he, his father and Morag’s dad Peter had survived the war with the news that it finally came to an end in France and Belgium at 11.00 am on the eleventh day of the eleventh month 1918. Elements of the German High Sea fleet surrender off Rosyth on 21 November. In December Allied troops enter Germany in the same month that David Lloyd George wins the general election to become prime Minister of the National Government.
