David Graham Forbes 60579 Royal Field Artillery
DUNDEE BOMBARDIER KILLED.
Mrs Forbes, 159 Strathmartine Road, Dundee, has been officially informed of the death of her husband, Bombardier David G. Forbes R.F.A. An officer in a letter containing the sad news states that Bombardier Forbes, was instantaneously killed by a shell entering a telephone dugout where her husband was on duty. Bombardier Forbes, the officer adds, was a great loss to the battery. He was a line signaller and a capable n.c.o., and his officer had marked him down for promotion. The battery had lost a true-hearted and gallant soldier.
Deceased, who was 28 years of age, was previous to enlistment a master hairdresser, his place of business being in Rosebank Street. He had been at the front for almost two years.
