More about Alexander Guthrie
Alex Guthrie M.M. 290540 Black Watch
DUNDEE SERGEANT WINS MILITARY MEDAL.
Sergeant Alex Guthrie, Black Watch, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Alexander Guthrie, 15 Baffin Street, Dundee, has been awarded the Military Medal.
Previous to enlistment in September 1914, Sergeant Guthrie resided with his wife at Main Street, East Wemyss, where he was employed as a miner.
The sergeant has seen three years of severe fighting in France, and despite the fact that he has taken part in most of the big battles he has so far escaped unscathed.
Dundee Courier 15th January 1918
Sergeant Alex Guthrie was killed in action 21st March 1918
