DUNDEE OFFICER FALLS IN ACTION.

MEMBER OF PARISH COUNCIL STAFF.

Mr and Mrs T. M. Millar, Glenvarloch, Argyle Street, Dundee, has received intimation that their youngest son Second-Lieutenant Douglas Archibald Millar, has been killed in action.  He had been at the front since March, and was previously wounded, but speedily recovered.

Twenty-three years of age, he was educated at the Morgan Academy and Dundee High School, and after receiving his education he entered the office of the Parish  Council under Mr Robert Allan.  When war broke out he was a corporal in the R.A.M.C., and he received a commission in the Gordon Highlanders in June, 1915,  Lieutenant Millar, was a young man of very genial presence, and had a large circle of friends, who will greatly regret his death.  He was a devoted member of Ogilvie U.F. Church (the Rev. Dr H. F. Henderson) and took an active part in work in connection with the children, being secretary for several years of the Midmill Mission Service.

This is the second bereavement that Mr and Mrs Millar have suffered through the war.  Their eldest son Engineer-Lieut. John R. Millar, who was 29 years of age, died in hospital from injuries sustained as the result of his vessel being mined.  To Mr and Mrs Millar and family much sympathy will be extended by their many friends.

Douglas was the brother of Engineer Lieutenant, John Roger Miller, H.M.S. Valiant II,  who died of wounds, 05.07.1915.
