The news of the death in action of Private Alex Pope, of the 10th Highland Light Infantry, was conveyed to his parents, who reside at 13 Albert Street, in letters from two companions, and the sad intelligence has now been confirmed by the War Office. Private Pope, joined the H.L.I. a year ago, and was previously employed by Messrs James Keiller & Son, Ltd. He was 29 years of age, and was very popular with his comrades.
