Thomas A Robinson was the son of Mrs T Nichols, formerly Robinson, of the Britannia Inn, Summer Lane, Birmingham. He was the husband of Annie T B Murphy, formerly Robinson, of 75 Rosebank Street, Dundee. He worked as a Butcher’s Assistant until he joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Second Class in 1907. After initial training at HMS Ganges , a Shore Establishment at Shotley in Suffolk, he was drafted to the cruisers HMS Sutlej, Natal and Charybdis. In 1911 he transferred to the submarine service and spent time with the submarine flotilla at Dundee and remained in submarines for the rest of his service. Thomas lost his life when HM Submarine H3 struck a mine off present day Kotor in Montenegro in the Adriatic and sank with all hands. He is named on the Chatham Naval Memorial in Chatham, Kent.
