William Smart 41217 Cameron Highlanders
Pte. Wm. Smart, Cameron Highlanders, son of Mr and Mrs Jas Smart, 42 Dalgleish St., Tayport, died of wounds on 19th July. Pte. Smart who was 19 years of age, was before enlisting employed as a machineman in Mr Stephen’s saw mill. In a letter to deceased’s mother his company Chaplain, writes that Pte. Smart was a splendid soldier, and a great favourite with all ranks.
