Sergeant Stewart, who was 26 years of age, was mobilised with the Territorials at the outbreak of war, and proceeded to the front early in 1915. He was wounded in July of this year, and had not been back many days with his battery when he fell. Before the war he was employed with the Dundee Steam Laundry Company, Limited.
