WOUNDED IN BACK WITH SHRAPNEL.

A.B. Alexander Linton Davidson, attached to the Hood Battalion of the Royal Naval Division, writing to his mother, who resides at 7 Lyon Street, Dundee, states that he is in hospital in Malta, having been wounded at the Dardanelles.  He says :–“I was wounded in the back with shrapnel, but it is not serious, and I am getting on all right.  My mate and I were lying in our dug-out one night when a shell burst right over our heads, and I was the unlucky one.  It hit me and missed my mate.  I had a very lucky shave, the bullet entering my back about an inch from the spine.

Seaman Davidson, who is 24 years of age, enlisted on the outbreak of war.  He was previously employed by the Fairfield Shipbuilding Company, Govan, as a carpenter.  He served his apprenticeship with Gourlay Bros., & Co., Limited, Dundee.

HONOURS FOR DUNDEE MAN.

L-Cpl. Alexander Linton Davidson, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Jas. Davidson, 7 Lyon Street, Dundee, has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery on the field.

L-Cpl. Davidson who is 26 years of age, enlisted in the Collingwood Battalion of the Royal Naval Division at the outbreak of hostilities, and went through the Dardanelles campaign.

He was afterwards sent to France, where he has seen severe fighting since last May, but at present he is in hospital in England recuperating from frostbite.

His brother William, who enlisted in the Royal Scots, is also on active service.
