John was killed in action in trenches near Albert and has no known grave but is remembered on the Vimy Memorial. He was the son of the late Hugh and Margaret Breen of Dundee. Johns next of kin listed on his attestation papers was his sister Mrs L Simmons of 44 Peddie St, Dundee.
