Robert has no known grave but is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
Awarded the Military Cross on 3rd June 1916, for very gallant work in carrying in a wounded officer for a considerable distance under very heavy fire a Mauquissart on 25th September 1915, and afterwards as only officer left with the battalion showing considerable ability in rallying the men.
