More about Daniel Cameron

Danny Cameron   Gordon Highlanders

FORMER DUNDEE FOOTBALLER

IS PRISONER IN GERMANY.

“Danny” Cameron, who played for Dundee Football Club for the past two seasons, is a prisoner in Germany.

Cameron is a Gordon Highlander Reservist, and lived with his relatives at 187 Overgate, Dundee.  His sister has received a postcard from Hamelin, on the Weser, the scene of Browning’s poem, “The Pied Piper of Hamelin.”

The message on the card is very brief.  “Danny” says :–“I am a prisoner, but am keeping well and in good health.  I will be released after the war, which I hope won’t be long.  Give this to mother, as I have only one P.C.

Cameron spent five years with his regiment in India, where his undoubted football ability was recognised by the regimental experts, and he played many a game under the burning sun of India.  When he came back to this country he played for St Joseph’s, Dundee.  While he appeared several times in the ranks of the first eleven, he was oftenest to be seen battling with the reserves.  His position was outside right.
