David Donald   15423   Australian Engineers

MORGAN ACADEMY MEDALLIST KILLED.

Information has been received by Mrs Donald, Studio Cottage, Wellington Street, that her only surviving son, Sapper David Donald, of the Australian Engineers, has been killed in action.

Deceased was a pupil of the Morgan Academy, where he was gold medallist.  He served as an architect with Messrs M’Laren, Sons & Soutar, and later with Messrs Leslie Ower & Allan, Dundee.  He was also for a time in the office of Messrs Brewster & Grant, architects, Blairgowrie.

About five years ago Sapper Donald left this country to occupy a prominent architectural position with the Australian Government.

Deceased was a son of the late Mr Alex. Donald, a well-known photographer in Dundee.  Sapper Donald was in Dundee a few months ago.  He had only been a few weeks in France.  He was well known in cricket circles, being a member of the Craighall Cricket Club.
