More about William Arthur Dibbs

William has no known grave but is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial. He was killed in action just 12 days before his brother Pte David Dibbs 51168 of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry who was killed in action 04/05/1915 at Bellewaerde, Belgium. Two other brothers also served during the Great War and returned home safely, they were Seaman Walter Robert Dibbs, J72382, H.M.S. Victory, Royal Navy and Cpt Henry James Dibbs, Indian Army.

William and David’s mother is also recorded as residing at 21 Loons Rd, Dundee.

William’s father Alexander was Stationmaster of Lochee train station and was sadly killed by a train in 1913.
