More about Frederick Brown Moir Crooks

Fred Crooks  Royal Engineers attached to Gloucester Regiment

Sapper Fred Crooks, R.E. attached Gloucester Regiment, was severely wounded in the recent fighting, and unfortunately it has been found necessary to amputate his left leg.  Sapper Crooks is, however, progressing favourably.  He is in his twentieth year, and before enlistment was in the employment of his father, Mr James Crooks, plumber and gasfitter, King Street, who is also a lieutenant on the auxiliary staff of the Dundee Fire Brigade.  Sapper Crooks also served on the auxiliary fire staff for some time after the outbreak of war.  His brother, Second-Lieutenant Robert Crooks, of the Liverpool Regiment, is at present on active service.
