George was the brother of Sapper James Brand 88779, 206th Field Coy, Royal Engineers, who died 06.11.1918 and L/Cpl William Brand 155075, 138th Army Troops Coy, Royal Engineers, who died accidentally whilst serving in France, 19.07.1919.

For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour although his brother James was listed.
