George J Donn was the son of Mr James and Mrs Agnes Sterling Donn of 7 William Street, Dundee. He was married to Mrs Eleanor Donn, nee Harrison, of 268 Station Road, Wallsend on Tyne. His sister Agnes lived at 27 Albert Street, Dundee. The SS Euphorbia was on passage from Bassein in Eastern India to London and was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel fourteen miles south east of the Royal Sovereign Lightship by the German submarine UC-75 with the loss of fourteen of her crew. George Donn is named on the Tower Hill Memorial in London.
