More about Harry Walker Duffus
Harry W Duffus was born in Dundee but lived at 80 Cambridge Road in Bootle, Liverpool. He served onboard the SS Northern Coast as Second Mate in 1914, signing on in the SS Kylemhor in December 1914 as Second Mate and leaving that ship in Glasgow in August 1915. He is listed in the 1915 Crew Lists as William Duffus but this may be because the hand written original ledger entries are difficult to decipher. The SS Hyperia was employed transporting troops and supplies in the Mediterranean theatre. Harry Duffus died from acute pneumonia in the Deaconesses Hospital in Alexandria, Egypt. His name is listed in the Scottish National War Memorial Lists in Edinburgh Castle (No 96100).
