More about Norman Alfred Henderson

Norman Alfred Henderson   43230   Royal Scots

“A Great Favourite.”

Signaller Norman A. Henderson, Royal Scots, son of Mr and Mrs William Henderson, Park Place, 172 Clepington Road, Dundee, has been killed in action.  Signaller Henderson enlisted in the Scottish Rifles in 1915, and had been in France two years and ten months.  In a letter to the deceased soldier’s parents an officer writes :–“I very much regret to have to inform you that your son was killed in action by shell fire on the 18th August.  He was beside his platoon officer, who was also killed at the same time, and I believe he died almost immediately after being hit, and has been buried behind the line.  His loss is very much regretted in the company, in which he was a great favourite.”  Prior to enlisting Signaller Henderson was in the office of Mr John Maxwell, solicitor, St. Vincent Street, Glasgow, and served his apprenticeship with the late Mr G. B. Paul, solicitor, Dundee.
