DUNDEE MAN WOUNDED AT DARANELLES.

OTHER THREE BROTHERS WITH THE COLOURS.

Pte. Jas. Butchart, of the 5th Battalion Australian Force, is the first of four Dundee brothers serving with the colours to be wounded.  Mr Wm Butchart, late chief officer of the Coast-guard, R.N., and who lives at 138 Hilltown, Dundee, has received a letter from his son announcing an injury received at the Dardanelles.  Writing from the General Hospital in the Mediterranean he says :― “As you may have seen we were in action.  I got off lucky with a slight wound in the left side.  The doctor froze the part, and picked out the bullet.  I have got it as a memento.

Private James Butchart left Dundee three years ago to follow the occupation of a farmer in Victoria, Australia, but when war broke out he was among the first to offer his services.  The other three brothers with the colours are Bombardier William Butchart, of the R.G.A., who is attached to the 20th Siege Battery; Private John Butchart of the 2d Black Watch, who came from India; and Leading Seaman George Butchart, on board H.M.S. Vanguard.
