DUNDEE OFFICER WINS M.C.

RETURNS FROM BUENOS AYRES TO ENLIST.

The second instalment of the current Gazette of Military Cross awards contains the name of Lieut. (A./Capt.) James Crichton Ross, 4/5 Black Watch.

Captain Ross is the elder son of Mr James Ross, Canisbay Lodge, East Newport.  On the outbreak of war Captain Ross, who was educated at Dundee High School, came home from Buenos Ayres and joined the Honourable Artillery Company in March, 1915.  He was gazetted to the 4th Black Watch in December, 1915.  He was wounded in October, 1916, and in August, 1917.  Later Captain Ross became attached to the 1/7th Battalion Black Watch, and has now had two years’ continuous service.  His brother, Lieutenant Frederick C. Ross of the 6th A. and S. Highlanders, attached 25th Northumberland Fusiliers is in France.  He has also been twice wounded.
