More about James Macarthur/McArthur

For reasons unknown this man is not listed on the original Dundee Roll of Honour. James was the brother of Pte David McArthur, D.C.M. 8507, 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, who was killed in action, 26.04.1916 & Gunner William McArthur, 41408, Royal Garrison Artillery.

DUNDEE FAMILY HEAVILY HIT.

Gunner Jas. McArthur, Royal Field Artillery, has been killed in action.  He is the second son of Mrs McArthur, 41 North Street, Dundee, to fall in his country’s cause.  A brother, Pte. David McArthur, Seaforth Highlanders, who was awarded the D.C.M., has also fallen in action.

Two others still remain in the service one of whom has been wounded and is in Hospital at Malta, the other being on the western front.  Gunner McArthur, who was 21 years of age, was previously employed as a millworker by Messrs Duffus & Nephew, Dundee.
